  • Timeline of Video-Games

The world of gaming all started when in October 1958; a physicist named William Higinbotham created what is thought to be the first video game. It was very similar to the 1970s classic game Pong. Video games only became popular in the 1970s and 1980s. They were mainly arcade games like Pac-Man, Asteroids and Pong but this is also when the first generation consoles came out. Some of them were: The Magnavox Odyssey by Magnavox, Home Pong by Atari and the Color TV-Game Series by Nintendo. Nintendo also released and NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) and SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System). Sega released the Master System and the Genesis. Now let’s move on to 1990s, when Nintendo ruled the video-gaming market. They released the first GameBoy, the N64, Sega released the Sega CD and the Nomad and Playstation released their first console called - of course, the Playstation. The 2000s were really the best decade for video-games (yet). There were huge advances in both PC gaming and Console gaming. Microsoft released the first Xbox and Xbox 360, Playstation released the PS2 and the PS3 and Nintendo released the Wii and the GameCube. Awesome games like World Of Warcraft, Bioshock, Half-Life 2, Halo, Portal, Minecraft, Catamari Damasy and Majora’s Mask came out.The 2010s was and is the best decade for video-games ever. This decade had the best advances in video-gaming like the release of the PS4, Xbox One, 3DS, 2DS and Wii U and GTX 1080 (and Pokémon Go, of course). So, thus began the war between PS4 and Xbox One. Even with both of the console giants selling a huge amount of consoles, the Playstation rival destroys the Xbox in terms of sales (and performance). Some of the upcoming projects on the console side are: Playstation Neo, Playstation VR (Project Morpheus), PS5, Xbox Project Scorpion and Xbox One S. There have been no farther updates, all we can do is sit and wait that Pokémon Go’s servers get better and Half-Life 3 comes out.
